I work regularly in Primary Schools and Early Years settings to deliver singing and music sessions. My aim is to make music fun, and keep children singing and enjoying music making all the way through their Primary education – and hopefully for the rest of their lives!
“Jane’s passion for music is inspiring! Children who work with her are engaged, motivated and enthusiastic about creating and performing music, within the local community as well as within the learning environment. Our school as a whole has benefitted hugely from Jane’s vast experience, and her creativity, flexibility and patience make her so enjoyable to work with.”
Claire Seed, Teacher, Berridge Primary School
I teach music at Berridge Primary School in Hyson Green and Westglade Primary in Top Valley, delivering singing sessions for every year group from Nursery to Year 6, and music curriculum lessons to Key Stage 1 and 2. I also assist with organising all the exciting performances (nativities, festivals, end of year shows) that become wonderful memories for the children and their families.
It was a four year old at Berridge (who is now 8) who first called me ‘Singing Jane’ – and it stuck, even becoming my domain name! I never tire of seeing how excited the children are when I arrive at school – “Yes! It’s singing today!”
Music is so important in Education, promoting health and wellbeing, creativity, imagination, fun, language and communication, teamwork, positive learning experiences… the list goes on. I promote this at every opportunity, and I’m actively involved with campaigns to keep music in the curriculum – it’s too important to be pushed out!

Before becoming a full-time freelance musician, I worked in primary schools across Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties for fifteen years, as a class teacher of children in Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and 2, a Deputy Headteacher, and a school music leader. Recently, I worked as an Early Years singing specialist for Nottingham City’s ‘In harmony’ programme, delivering singing and music sessions for preschool children and their families. I have also worked as a trainer for ‘Sing Up’, working with both teachers and children; a singing teacher and vocal coach at a theatre school for students from 5-18; and as a visiting music lecturer and workshop leader for students on undergraduate and postgraduate teacher training courses at Nottingham Trent University.
“Jane has inspired our children with her music lessons. Her enthusiastic teaching style ensures the children really enjoy the sessions taught. She is confident to work with children from EYFS to Year 6, whether it’s teaching music lessons, creating whole school shows/performances or working with our large school choir. Jane always has a positive manner and flexible approach especially at busy times of the year like Christmas. She works well with our staff and is very popular with children. We are delighted to have as part of the Berridge team.”
