My Sight Choir

One of the only choirs for blind and visually impaired people in the UK!

MySight choir is a choir for blind and visually impaired singers.  We sing in two-part harmony (high voices and low voices), learned by ear with all the music also provided in Braille, Large Print and audio CD for rehearsing at home.  Our sessions always include a time for refreshments and socialising together.  We perform regularly, both to raise funds for the choir and to raise awareness – we have sung in Wollaton Hall, at Nottingham Playhouse, and even at the opening of the new Nottingham Tram line!  One of our most memorable highlights was singing in London at an event that showcased the work of blind and VI musicians.  We have strong links with our sister choir in Liverpool and regularly visit each other to sing together.  At Christmas we usually sing carols in the Victoria Centre, and at other locations in Nottingham, so even if you can’t join the choir, do come and support us!

We meet at MySight’s purpose-built premises in Heathcoat Street in the City Centre, on a Monday morning (usually fortnightly).  Transport to choir sessions can be arranged by MySight for an additional small contribution.

We have some wonderful sighted volunteers who sing with our choir, and help out choir members when needed, and make the all-important cuppas!  Do get in touch if you’re a keen singer who would be interested in coming along to volunteer with the choir.
