Soundswell Choir

The really big choir!

I’ve recently become the Musical Director of Soundswell, having been Assistant Conductor since 2016, working with Dave Machell, the Musical Director, who has been involved with the choir since the late (and great) Val Machell set it up in 2005.

Soundswell is a large community choir of over eighty members, singing mostly contemporary music in four part harmony.  All are welcome regardless of musical experience.  The choir is really friendly, great fun and has an emphasis on ‘Singing to make you feel better’ – members say it’s the highlight of their week! Val’s mantra was that ‘There are no wrong notes, only interesting variations” – there’s no pressure, just the exhilarating feeling of singing in harmony in a huge group of people.
